Best commuter longboard: Pantheon Pranayama

The Pranayama is our most popular board, and it is the best commuter we make. It is simple, it gives you excellent control on one foot when you are dodging traffic, and it is a shorter setup that is easy to pick up and take with you wherever you go.
- Construction: 6-ply maple core wrapped in triaxial fiberglass, medium flex
- Setup: Stylus 149mm TKP trucks, with an option for drop-through risers and our 102mm Hoku wheels
- Price: from $170
See th Pantheon Trip: the simple pusher. The Trip is a simple, easy-to-set-up pushing board and a more stable setup, and stability matters when you don’t know what’s ahead of you. It also handles more speed than the Pranayama, so if you run into a hill along the way, you are better off on the Trip. It comes in three constructions: Whale Trip (pre-preg fiberglass), Trip Fields and Carbon Trip. Classic constructions suit most riders up to about 220 lb. From $170. Pantheon Superdupersonic: push and pump. The Superdupersonic pushes easily and pumps well, so you can switch between the two and alternate muscle groups. That is how you last longer and longer on big distance days. Built-in wedging makes it easy to set up, and three flexes let you tune it to your weight. From $210. All distance & LDP longboards · Our distance board guide For pure pumping, the Genesis is our pick. It is a top-mount long distance pumper built for standing on the trucks, with a very wide nose (about 10″ at the innermost front bolts) right where your front foot works. It rewards the right setup, so reach out if you want help dialing yours in. Runner-up: Superdupersonic. A close second, and much easier to set up thanks to its built-in wedging. Three flexes let you tune it to your weight. From $210. See the Genesis · All pumping longboards The LowTide wins on flex. Its bamboo deck gives a lively, comfortable ride that soaks up rough pavement and makes carving fun, and the complete comes set up with Stylus TKP trucks and 66mm Sliders wheels. See the LowTide · All cruiser longboards Pantheon Nexus: the easiest board to learn to slide on. A stiff double drop that sits low to the ground, so slides come easily, and a great freeride board for beginners. It is also our top pick for heavier riders, rated to about 350 lb (more on that here). From $185. Pantheon Sacrifice: locked-in top-mount control. A symmetrical top mount with a solid W concave that locks your feet in, which makes it great for toeside slides. 35.3″ long with a 24.5″ to 26″ wheelbase. From $180. The Banantheon is a big doublekick built for the pure joy of skating. It has real pop for tricks, a stable 19″ wheelbase, and radial concave with crescent micro drops so you always know where your feet are. See the Banantheon · All freestyle longboards Each of our pro model decks was designed around one rider’s style and needs. The best downhill board for you is the one built for the rider you most want to ride like. All downhill longboards · All pro models Start with how you’ll ride. Getting around town points you to a commuter. Long pushes point to distance and LDP. Carving and pumping on flat ground point to a pumping board. Hills and speed point to freeride and downhill. Tricks point to freestyle. Match the flex to your weight. Softer boards are more comfortable and pump better, but flex too much under heavier riders. Most of our boards list a rider weight range. Use it. Lower is easier to push. Drop-through mounting and dropped platforms put your foot closer to the ground, which makes pushing less tiring. Top-mount boards give you more leverage for carving and pumping. Buy a complete if you’re unsure. Our completes are set up the way we designed each board to ride, with trucks, wheels and bushings already matched. Want to see everything at once? Browse all Pantheon longboards. For commuting and distance, most riders are happiest between about 36″ and 42″. Shorter boards (around 30″ to 34″) are easier to carry and turn. Longer, lower boards are more stable at speed and easier to push. Your height and stance width matter too: taller riders with wide stances usually want a longer wheelbase. A stable, low board with a medium flex is the easiest place to start. We break it down by riding style in our guide to the best longboard for beginners. The Nexus, rated to about 350 lb.
