The Pantheon Alpaca Slouch Beanie is a limited run item that is 100% made in Colorado — the Alpaca wool comes straight off the bellies and backs of one of our 4 alpacas here on the Pantheon farm. You get to choose your model, and your alpaca! Choose from the White (from our alpaca Hope), the Brown (from our alpaca Curiosity), or the black (from our old lady alpacas Neera and Geisha). The fiber is shaved once a year in the Spring and then spun here in Colorado into a 60/40 alpaca/sheep wool blend, which helps the hat keep its shape. These hats were then woven by hand in Colorado Springs, CO to become our Alpaca Slouch Beanie hat. This year we only did one style, one item. Next year, it will likely be something else!

Ideally, this little extension of our business helps pay for the food and/or some of the processing of these items, but I have to be honest in that it’s not much of a business model. The hat production numbers are not huge by any means, and they also cost too much to produce to sell at a price that makes up for the expenses. But these girls are a lot of fun, and they pay us back in other ways. We are definitely animal people in this house! We look forward to continuing this part of our business for an annual limited run item for as long as we can.
